SiteGround Review (2021) – 10 reasons why I am staying πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘

⚠️ If you are thinking about switching hosting provider and looking for an honest SiteGround Review, you’ve come to the right place.

Last Updated on January 17, 2021

Undoubtedly, being a web designer myself with 20+ customers and 30+ websites under my wings, hosting is one of the most critical aspects of my business!

With an unreliable hosting, you can face downtime, slow loading speed, email issues which can affect your business, and potentially you can lose all your customers.

Over the years, I have been with eight different hosting companies. It has been a long journey of hunting for the best option for my business. After two years with SiteGround, I finally have a web hosting provider that I actually can trust.

SiteGround strives to differentiate itself with the highest quality across all categories – customer service, speed, infrastructure, security, and even price.

Why have I decided to write a SiteGround review?

I decided to write a review because my customers, followers and business partners keep asking me about the hosting company I use.

Also, I receive numerous emails and messages on social media as I have an extensive portfolio of websites.

These emails and messages are usually filled with horror stories about terrible support, lost sites, and speed problems, while I am a stress-free user of SiteGround.

Without a doubt, running a website alone is stressful enough, especially if it is your bread and butter. Therefore, you should not be wasting your time, money and resources with risky and mediocre level hosting providers.

I hope this review can help you choose the best website hosting provider for your business.

SiteGround Review – Reason 1 – Amazing Customer Service πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘

Without a doubt, there is nothing more enraging than having lousy customer service.

After numerous attempts of trying to reach Hostgator and many other hosting companies’ support was traumatising. I spent days and weeks submitting support tickets. Moreover, I had to continue sending tickets about the lost support tickets. In the end, they gave me no reply and no proper help.

As a result, my hosting problems remained unsolved and money lost down the line.

I decided to ask Support Chat agents to help me. They couldn’t do much as the technical department was only reachable through the ticket system. It means more tickets had to be submitted. I found myself stuck in a hamster wheel!

I still feel stressed when I remember what I had to go through back then. Every business owner would understand me. Because, when your site is down, you need someone who will help you instantly.

Customer support is where SiteGround shines. Most users and reviewers call SiteGround a hosting market leader in customer service.

All issues that I’ve ever had got dealt with promptly. πŸ‘

Both of their support chat and tickets system is integrated very well and works super fast.

Fast and efficient problem resolution

They have thought about every type of interaction and support infrastructure to be able to resolve all kind of issues their customers might have as quick as possible.

Along with their outstanding customer service, you can also visit the SiteGround Knowledge Base to look for answers.

SiteGround Knowledge Base is organized and packed with every single detail about their services. You can find 329 articles about hosting, 112 about cPanel, 395 about applications, and other topics that give you a sense of stability. The only company that cares about customer service invests in content creation.

Usually, the reason behind the excellent customer service is the leader of the company.

So, who owns SiteGround?

SiteGround was built 100% in-house by its founder Tenko Nikolov. He built the company that continues to strive for excellence. SiteGround developers today run the most massive Linux container stack in the world.

SiteGround Review – Reason 2 – Instant Chat Support πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘

What makes a hosting company reliable? For me (and I think most of us), it is the Live Chat support.

SiteGround help is there and available. Chat Support at SiteGround is outstanding. If you have any issue or even a question, you can simply click on Live Chat. Support talks to you instantly.

The speed of answering is just one part of the equation. In addition to this, the live chat support team also needs proper training and experience to solve problems.

SiteGround doesn’t just forward you to another department. They also manage to help you on their Live Chat most of the time.

Here is data that shows how SiteGround compares to 12 other hosting companies. The average turnaround time for issue resolution is only 5 minutes.

Although SiteGround provides this data, I have to say that – in my experience – it’s spot on.

SiteGround Review – Reason 3 – 30 Minutes Resolution On SiteGround Support Tickets πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘

SiteGround’s super responsive ticket system demonstrates the speed of solving technical issues. Their support tickets resolution time tells all about the communication between support and the technical departments.

Companies usually fall when departments don’t have the right communication tools and proper infrastructure in place.

The ticket system is one of the service pillars in the hosting market. It is required, as the technical team might ask for screenshots or recordings to be able to solve the problem which they cannot deal with via Live Chat.

If this system doesn’t work correctly, then it means days of waiting for an answer. However, every ticket I have sent to SiteGround in over the past two years was resolved almost instantly. On average, SiteGround tickets receive a first reply within 15 minutes.

SiteGround Review – Reason 4 – Instant Phone Support πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘

Nowadays, every hosting provider has a phone number. But it does not mean you can reach support or you get the help you after. SiteGround phone number works. Not everyone likes online chats or want to rely on tickets.

We are humans, and somehow we feel better when we hear the voice of a real human being helping us.

SiteGround’s phone support has been outstanding! In the last two years, my team called them five times. They did indeed pick up instantly.

SiteGround Review – Reason 5 – Blazing fast loading time πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘

I have been with eight other hosting companies, including Web Hosting Hub. HostGator, Bluehost, FatCow, Namecheap Hosting.

SiteGround was the only company with fast load times. I have never had any surprises about a sudden drop in website speed.

I haven’t personally done any research comparing all of them. All I can say is that HostGator shared hosting sites sometimes took 4-5 seconds even to start loading.

With SiteGround, it’s always been instant.

And it makes sense. All plans come with free Cloudflare CDN (Content Delivery Network). Yes, SiteGround CDN is one of the most trusted traffic acceleration networks. You can enable Cloudflare with just a few clicks on the SiteGround Cpanel.

Fast and efficient problem resolution
Fast & Secure Web Hosting

It usually costs an additional 5-20$/month with other hosting providers. SiteGround Cloudflare partnership is the best thing that happened to SiteGround users.

Why should you care about CDN? It’s one of the main factors that create fast websites. CDN stores large files on many servers in different locations. As they are stored close to your site visitors, they are accessed faster.

SiteGround Review – Reason 6 – SiteGround Security is active and vigilant πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘

Although there are many security threats, DDoS attacks stand out today.

I have found statistics by Kaspersky that are alarming. The 2020 year requires active protection against DDoS attacks. The number of attacks grew by 80% against Q1 2019.

What is a DDOS attack?

DDOS attack happens when hackers send thousands of bot clicks per minute to your website. As a result, pages load at an incredibly fast rate. Finally, it brings the server down, which results in your site being offline for hours or even days.

Unfortunately, I went through all this myself last year. How did SiteGround deal with this?

SiteGround sent me email notification about what was happening, and that they managed to block the DDOS attack. So, my attacked sites copped a bit of damage and were down for 10-15 minutes, but we were back online after that. Moreover, all of that happened while I was asleep.

While choosing a hosting provider, check their policy about how they manage continuous attacks. Always, look for the following features: server monitoring, malware detection, attack protection, two-factor authentication, and integration with security add-ons. And guess what? SiteGround stands out again.

SiteGround Review – Reason 7 – Free SiteGround Backups are Reliable πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘

I didn’t realize how important backups are. I never had any issues about my sites going corrupt or anything like that. Sadly things like this can happen, and they do happen. Your responsibility as a website and business owner is to make sure you choose the most reliable hosting provider.

4 years ago, I had a nasty experience with WebHostingHub. My site got hacked. They offer backups for an extra 1$/month. So without giving it a second thought, I went for it.

But guess what happened when I requested my backup? They said it was gone. 😳

Then in 2019, one of my team members made a mistake, and a lot of campaign information got lost. Microsites, landing pages, graphics, It would have taken us eight weeks to create them again.

So, I went straight to SiteGround support chat. Firstly, they restored everything within several hours. Secondly, SiteGround provided me with free daily backups!

Moreover, the Backup Restore feature is available in SiteGround GrowBig and GoGeek hosting plans. Altogether, it was a massive relief.

Overall, remember that other providers give Backups for only additional costs, and I still heard horrible stories like mine when they do not work or fail to work as expected.

Is Backup Restore hard to use on SiteGround?

Backups are easy to use for first-time users. You can restore files and folders from their daily backups via cPanel. There is a Backup restore tool. There you simply select a Backup Type and a Backup Date.

Of course, the full tutorial is also available on SiteGround KnowledgeBase.

User-friendly tools and user experience is something that other companies could learn from SiteGround

SiteGround Review – Reason 8 – SiteGround Email setup πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘

You might be wondering why do I mention the email setup? If you are starting a website, you will need an email address with your domain. SiteGround makes it much more manageable. They also include unlimited number of email addresses in their plans.

SiteGround email account size limit is just right too. You get based on the plan you choose:

  • StartUp – 2000MB per email account
  • GrowBig – 4000MB per email account
  • GoGeek – 6000MB per email account

SiteGround email problems? None. You can even setup your email account on iPhone or Android phone. Just go to easy to read SiteGround Tutorial, and you are all set.

SiteGround Review – Reason 9 – Capabilities and Infrastructure πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘

Importantly, SiteGround keeps building its robust infrastructure and capabilities.

Website building is teamwork. Most of the hosting providers forget that. With SiteGround, you simply add collaborators. Create accounts for your employees or freelancers and continue working on your projects.

Besides, you can also choose different types of hosting, based on the platform.

  • WordPress Hosting
  • WooCommerce Hosting
  • Joomla Hosting
  • Magento Hosting
  • Drupal Hosting
  • PrestaShop Hosting

All of the above are available.

WordPress Installation and even transfer is free and easy to access.

Managed WordPress Hosting

WordPress AutoUpdates feature saves time on searching for plugins that could do that work and hoping that it won’t slow down the website.

In 2020 SiteGround has proved its commitment to sustainability and carbon neutrality. The company has moved to Google cloud. It means that operations are using renewable energy. As a result, this new development has made SiteGround an even more unique and better choice for me.

SiteGround Review – Reason 10 – Price for every business size πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘βœ…

Last but not least, we have to touch on pricing.

I put this at the bottom because price shouldn’t be the most significant factor when choosing your hosting provider. In general, the most important things are customer support, capabilities, and website loading speed.

Is SiteGround too expensive? πŸ€”

Is SiteGround the cheapest? πŸ€”

Nope, but quality always comes with a price tag, period!

Siteground Price Plan
Quality always comes with a price tag

Their shared hosting starts at just Β£5.99 / month, which is as cheap as any other affordable company out there.

Even if you could save $0.50 or $1 a month elsewhere, I would not recommend choosing another hosting provider. Undoubtedly, you are about to regret it when you come across horrible customer service.

SiteGround is not expensive by any means – they are affordable, and still close to being one of the cheapest companies.

Moreover, all plans have these features in common:

  • Unmetered Traffic
  • Free SSL
  • Daily Backup
  • Free CD
  • Unlimited email accounts
  • Unlimited Databases
  • 30-day money-back guarantee
  • 24-hour phone, chat and email support
  • Security

Last but not least, SiteGround billing has never caused me any problems. πŸ‘

⚠️ Conclusion

Well, there you go. As you can probably tell, I love SiteGround ❀️

And I have no hesitancy in recommending them to anyone. They have the infrastructure, support, and security that just perfect. πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘

They have a selection of plans depending on your business requirements. In the beginning, I was on a cheap shared hosting plan. Now I moved to a Cloud account. βœ…

To sum up, SiteGround hosting is scalable. You can start with a standard shared account and go up when you need to.

Have you had any experience with SiteGround before? Are you happy with your current hosting company? Either way please leave me a comment, I would love to hear from you.
